Formbar allows to reproduced diagrams typographically. For this purpose, a variable font system was created, which includes 4 font styles: Hairline, Regular, Bold and ExtraBlack. The Glyphs have a 100% span to each other. This creates enough flexibility to reproduce bar charts with the formbar font. The Hairline typeface covers 1% and the Extra Black 100%. The Regular and Bold weights guarantee a uniform look in all weights. The font is characterized by its consistent looking letter spaces and a mixture of capitals and minuscules. Formbar allows you to create bar charts, column charts, stacked bar charts, stacked column charts and tile charts.

In collaboration with Cedric da Silva Costa and Sam Vogelskamp, we created a web tool for chart creation using the Formbar font family. The tool enables the typographic creation of bar charts. The properties of the bar chart can be optimized by various settings. Afterwards, the chart can be downloaded and used for other purposes.
